Silent Night

Jason was working on his arrangement of Silent Night when we noticed the painting of Mary and baby Jesus appeared to be watching him work :)

pumpkin juice

We’ve been married a whole week.  We’re totally pros at the whole wedded gig  ;)

Headed here for another round of pumpkin juice.  JB likes his “normal” – I prefer mine carbonated.  Either way it’s just bliss.

It’s over.

It’s done.  I’m so completely relieved.  The marriage part is just great.  The planning/waiting/anticipating part is sometimes torture.

The temple day was beyond amazing.   I’m just not even going to try to describe that here.

Reception day. Everything came together so much better than I had anticipated. The spitballs were squishy and perfect.  The 36 – 3ft  globe balloons were stunning.  The band was absolutely glorious.  There were so many wonderful, amazing family and friends.  I am completely saturated in happy.

Enemy of Time

It’s a great phrase, doncha think?

It’s lyrics to a song by Emily Brown whom I have gradually come to enjoy…  You should go here and listen.  Let me know whatcha think :)

I want to die…

How sexy is that coffin?  And the ridges are designed to create a high point roughly over the heart…you know love and eternity and all that

Shooting the dress

I’ll preface this by saying that I am not a fan of “bridals”.  I’ve never really been able to grasp the concept of a bridal portrait (or multitudes of them) decorating every horizontal surface at a reception.  Most of the people we’ve invited to the wedding are reasonably (or unreasonably) intelligent.  I figure they can work out for themselves who the bride is.

Having said that, we decided, for the sake of posterity and just because it was one heck of a lot of fun, to drive out to the salt flats and get a few shots of me in *the dress*.   We were hoping it was late enough in the year that the salt flats would be at least semi dry.

They weren’t.    My brother waded out a few feet and the water  was to his knees.  Awesome.

Just to prove we could we did a shoot anyway.  No. I didn’t wade out in my dress.

We had no intention of using that umbrella.  The wind was blowing at about 9,000 mph.  We found it in the car and improvised.

The reason the wind is not blowing so hard here is because I am standing next to a wind blocking structure.  That structure was a large, brick-walled men’s restroom.  Insert potty joke here.

Grey sweater. Also not a planned element of the shoot.  But I was so cold my hands and arms were turning blue.

(These are for my Grandma.  Love you Grandma!)

Unbreakable Bubble Wrap

Wedding presents are arriving!

Here’s a tip.  If you’re considering getting married, register with Amazon.  Lovely boxes get delivered *right to your door*, with lovely gifts inside….and *BUBBLEWRAP*

Here’s the downside.  I keep getting presents encased in what appears to be bubble wrap, except that instead of clear plastic it’s sort of the color of that lady who goes tanning too much.  And here’s the worst part. No pop.

I’m serious.  I tried.  Squeezed. Twisted. Stomped on it. No pop.

So I opened my new knives and forks and stabbed them. :)

People keep ruining my life…

and they aren’t even slightly sorry (double points for alliteration).

I loathe finals. I am going to lock myself in my room Rapunzel-style (minus the copious hair) and study Arabic until…well just until.  Because, let’s be honest, I don’t have a prayer of ever learning this stuff.

Someone shove a sandwich under the door.  This one…

Make mine with smoked gouda.  And if you can figure out a way to provide me with vast quantities of diet coke (a long straw perhaps?) – that would be grand.

(Go here to learn to make this sandwich while being wildly entertained.  You can thank me later. إن شاء ال)

I blame taxes…

…because taxes are to blame.

JB has a seriously onerous tax class he is required to take during spring term.  All that taxing (pun intended) class-work in just 6 weeks.  We decided missing 1.5 weeks of that for a wedding and honeymoon was not the best idea we ever had.

The new wedding date is June 22.

Spit balls and a live band.  It’s going to be a great party :)

There’s just no easy way to say this

There will not be a wedding May 25.

I am consoling myself with cotton candy.  Lots of it.  I bought a cotton candy machine.  Yes, really.
